Moonrise Over San Francisco
View from the Marin Headlands at about 10 minutes after sunset; a full moon rising behind San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge in the foreground.
I first noticed the opportunity for this image in October 2003, but the moon was rising too far to the north. As winter progressed the moonrise kept drifting farther and farther to the north. I had to wait until May 2004 for the moon to rise over San Francisco. Then I had to wait for just the right day, when the full moon rose as the city turned on its lights after sunset.
